Context
As part of the operation of the Migrant Integration Center (KEM), the municipal radio FM 100 undertook the production and broadcasting of a radio show by a group of young asylum seekers.
Description
This action included the creation of a multi-member (5 – 10 people) group of young refugees from different countries of origin, which was active in the preparation and implementation of the production of a one – hour radio program of general character (informative / entertaining) focusing on the integration of refugees in the local society.
Impact
The action trained the participants in the methods of radio production, so that this show would be a “hub” of information, interaction and entertainment between the refugee population and the local community.
The action involved a professional journalist/radio producer who acted as the team’s “animator” and custodian of the quality and content validity of the broadcasts produced.
The show started in May 2019 and continued until October 2020. The shows included current affairs as well as discussions with organizations and professionals of the city (and nationwide) with the aim of timely and validly informing the refugee population by giving a steady step of expression of speech and ideas.
