Context
The ESTIA II program, with the distinctive title REACT (Refugee Assistance Collaboration Thessaloniki) * during the pandemic adapted its operation to the new conditions, to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, protect the wider population but also to help people continue their lives in the smoothest possible way.
One of the initiatives is the following: The beneficiaries of the program created and offered masks to all the students of the Program as well as to various civil society organizations in Thessaloniki.
Description
A workshop for the creation of masks for protection against COVID-19 was set up at the premises of ARSIS – the Child Protection Team of the REACT Program, with the aim of distributing them to all students of the Program and to various organizations in Thessaloniki.
“I like helping people. It is good to help as much as you can, to be a volunteer when the opportunity is given. I can help in this way and so I did. Despite the personal difficulties in my daily life, I am in the mood to offer to my fellow human beings”, Ailham, participant.
The equipment and materials were provided by UNHCR GREECE with the voluntary participation of the beneficiaries of the Program.
*REACT is implemented by a corporate scheme with coordinating partner the Municipality of Thessaloniki and other partners the Municipality of Neapoli – Sykies, the Municipality of Kalamaria, the Development Agency of Eastern Thessaloniki ANATOLIKI SA, ARSIS – Social Support of Youth, PRAKSIS – Social Support and Medical Cooperation Development Programs, the Thessaloniki YMCA and the Major Development Agency Thessaloniki (MDAT S.A.).
