The Municipality of Livadia has the honour to be final candidate for the “European Capitals of Inclusion and Diversity Award 2024”. In this category – local authorities with less than 50,000 inhabitants – candidates are five more cities from Spain, Italy and Portugal (you can see the shortlist here), which have completed effective actions and undertaken innovative initiatives showing respect for every person and promoting Inclusion and Diversity.
The award for “European Capitals of Inclusion and Diversity 2024” recognizes the work done by cities, towns and regions in Europe to create societies without discrimination. Relevant actions undertaken by local authorities – with the aim of including all citizens, especially the vulnerable ones, so that no one is left behind – are rewarded.
The European Commission will reveal the winners, the European model cities, during “the European Capitals of Inclusion and Diversity 2024” awards ceremony which will be held in Brussels, on 25 April 2024. The European Commissioner for Equality, Helena Dalli, will host the event, which will be attended by mayors, officials, diversity and inclusion stakeholders and policy makers.
The Mayor of Livadia, Mr. Dimitris K. Karamanis, is proud of the nomination of our Municipality to the European awards, recognizing the benefits of the European programmes that have been implemented in our town and stressing that the Municipality will continue to claim programmes which support our fellow citizens with vulnerabilities by offering them better quality of life.
