Refugees spοke to refugees at Heraklion Crete

UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, in Greece, in cooperation with the Development Agency of Heraklion, holded on Tuesday 29 November 2022 at the Municipality of Heraklion Cultural Centre an open discussion on integration titled: “Refugees speaking to refugees”.

Τhe invited speakers, refugees of Ukrainian, Kurdish, Iranian and Arab origin who live in the city of Heraklion, shared stories from their lives, highlighting the challenging and bright moments of their everyday life in a host country. The was moderated by the journalist Stelios Zervos.

The series of open discussion groups “Refugees speaking to refugees” was launched by UNHCR in December 2021. Refugee speakers who have achieved social, economic, linguistic and cultural integration in the country are invited to speak to other refugees, to discuss their stories and to inspire and support others.
