The 1st Cities Network for Integration (CNI) newsletter is public! CNI shares its 1st newsletter presenting the progress and prospects of the joint venture of 13 smaller and larger municipalities of Greece that join forces for the first time in the field of integration.
Since April 2020, the operations of the Network have been strengthened, with the support of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Greece. On the basis of the needs and priorities identified by CNI members, UNHCR and IOM jointly provide the necessary support, in order to develop mechanisms and local capacities with long term benefits both for migrant and refugee populations.
In this context, the newsletter features statements from the Municipality of Athens, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, and the International Organization for Migration (p. 2-4). Also, the newsletter presents the priority areas identified by CNI member municipalities in the field of integration (p. 5). Last but not least, Cities share initiatives that promote integration and social coherence, in areas such as COVID-19 health crisis management, education, employment, social welfare, awareness and participation of the local community. (p.7-15).
